Shelburne Museum is an American heritage folk art museum located in Shelburne Vermont. During my time working as an Art Educator I studied their vast collection of historical and contemporary sculptures, expressionist paintings, quilts, automobiles, apothecary and weathervanes.
I designed an interactive app prototype to help members navigate, discover, connect and plan their visit.
A unique feature of Shelburne Museum, is that the buildings themselves are part of the collection. historic structures were carefully shipped and rebuilt on the Museum grounds. Patrons walk or ride a shuttle around the property from building to building to view collections inside. There are also beautiful gardens, landscaping and often live performances outside.
I chose the weathervane as a name and image for a conceptual app. I felt it was an appropriate and important literal symbol for forecasting the weather, but also symbolizing preparation for your trip to the museum, for planning events, connecting with people, finding information and navigating your way around.
